Pedestrian killed in early morning crash in Bethel

BETHEL — A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a tractor trailer early Thursday morning on State Route 17B in the town of Bethel, according to New York State Police.

The incident occurred at approximately 5:45 a.m. near Happy Avenue.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Brett Stevens, 30, of Bethel, was walking within the lane when he was struck by a westbound 2022 International Harvester tractor trailer.

The tractor trailer was operated by Anthony Lee Tyson, 64, of Waterbury, Connecticut.

Stevens was pronounced dead at the scene.

The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation at State Police Liberty is continuing to investigate the collision.
