FRAMINGHAM — A 19-year-old Framingham man on probation was arrested Tuesday night after allegedly stealing a dirt bike from a seller who had advertised it for sale.

The evening shift officers, with assistance from the K9 Unit and evening detectives, recovered the stolen dirt bike after the victim called 911 to report the theft.

According to police, the victim reported that a person claiming to be interested in purchasing the dirt bike had stolen it during a meeting.

Officers identified the suspect from video footage of the incident and went to his residence.

Police could hear a dirt bike being ridden on the railroad tracks and trails behind the suspect’s home.

Officers began walking the tracks and encountered the suspect trying to start the dirt bike, which had apparently run out of gas.

After a short foot pursuit, the 19-year-old was taken into custody without incident.

He was booked on charges of larceny over $1,200.

The dirt bike was returned to its owner.
