MORETOWN — Troopers from the Berlin Barracks arrested a Waitsfield man on his second DUI charge after receiving reports of a driver discarding beer cans from his vehicle.
On May 9, at approximately 2:31 p.m., state police received a report of a male subject stumbling around his vehicle and throwing a beer can from the window.
A Be On The Lookout alert was issued for a blue Volvo with Vermont registration reportedly traveling toward Waitsfield.
Troopers located the suspect vehicle parked at the Moretown General Store.
While speaking with the operator, identified as Paul Appleton, 50, of Waitsfield, troopers observed signs of impairment.
Appleton was taken into custody and transported to the Berlin Barracks for processing.
He was later released with a citation to appear in Washington County Superior Court, Criminal Division, on May 29 at 8:30 a.m. to answer to the charge of DUI #2.
