BOSTON — Boston police officers arrested a male suspect with a firearm during a domestic violence call, highlighting the dangers officers face when responding to such incidents.

Officers from District B-2 in Roxbury made the arrest, according to a statement from the Boston Police Department.

The department emphasized that domestic violence calls are among the most dangerous 911 calls that officers encounter daily.

“There is no excuse for domestic violence,” the department stated, reminding residents that no one deserves to be abused and that help is available.

Those experiencing domestic violence emergencies should call 911, while non-emergency situations can be reported anonymously by phone at 1-800-494-TIPS, by texting “TIP” to CRIME (27463), or online at the department’s crime stoppers website.

The police department assured that it is committed to protecting the identities of those who come forward to support victims of domestic violence.

Several domestic violence resources are available in the Boston area, including the Asian Task Force Against Domestic Violence, Association of Haitian Women in Boston, Boston Area Rape Crisis Center, Casa Myrna Vasquez, and Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers.
