SENNETT — A 26-year-old Sennett woman faces multiple misdemeanor charges following a domestic violence incident that occurred on May 3, according to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.
Gabrielle D. Hidy was arrested and charged with unlawful imprisonment in the second degree, criminal obstruction of breathing, criminal mischief in the fourth degree, and resisting arrest.
Sheriff Brian Schenck reported that deputies responded to a residence in Sennett after receiving a call about a domestic dispute.
Investigators determined that Hidy had engaged in both a verbal and physical altercation with another individual.
During the incident, Hidy allegedly held the victim around the neck in a manner that interfered with their breathing.
Authorities say Hidy prevented the victim from leaving the residence to seek safety and from contacting emergency services.
When deputies attempted to place her under arrest, Hidy allegedly became physically combative and struck officers, though no deputies were injured during the altercation.
Following her arrest, Hidy was processed at the Public Safety Building and transferred to the Cayuga County Jail to await arraignment.
After arraignment, she was remanded to jail with bail set at $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.
