Multiple arrests made in Buffalo drug trafficking investigation

BUFFALO — Five individuals were arrested following a long-term investigation into narcotics distribution and prostitution within the Broadway Corridor area, Erie County Sheriff John C. Garcia announced.

The arrests came after the execution of two search warrants on May 6 at locations in Cheektowaga and Buffalo.

Nazir Binhuguley, 23, of Buffalo was arrested at an apartment in Cheektowaga where authorities recovered a handgun, two AR-style rifles (one reported stolen), and quantities of suspected cocaine and fentanyl.

Binhuguley, described as a long-time target of both the FBI Safe Streets Task Force and Erie County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit, faces federal charges of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

A second search warrant executed at 80 Lidell Street in Buffalo led to the arrest of four additional suspects.

Dayshawn Brazier, 33, of Buffalo, identified as an associate of Binhuguley, was charged with criminal possession of a narcotic drug with intent to sell, criminal possession of a controlled substance, and three counts of criminal use of drug paraphernalia.

James Barnwell, 26, of Buffalo was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and released on a desk appearance ticket.

Nicole Scinta, 32, of Cattaraugus faces charges of criminal possession of a narcotic drug and concealing/altering/destroying physical evidence.

Rashar Jones, 35, of Buffalo was taken into custody on nine outstanding warrants from various jurisdictions.
