LAKEWOOD — A 46-year-old Lakewood man faces multiple felony charges after allegedly spray painting police vehicles, civilian cars and government buildings over a two-day period in late April.

Jeffrey P. Hamilton was charged Thursday with four counts of felony criminal mischief in the third degree, three counts of making graffiti, three counts of criminal tampering in the third degree, and three counts of possession of graffiti instruments, according to the Lakewood-Busti Police Department.

Police allege that on Friday, April 25, Hamilton was arrested and released by the department on an unrelated matter.

Approximately one hour after his release, Hamilton allegedly returned to village property and spray painted a Lakewood-Busti police car and several civilian vehicles.

The following morning, April 26, Hamilton allegedly spray painted the Busti Town Court Building and the Village Highway DPW building.

Hamilton was taken to the County Jail on Thursday at 3 p.m. for centralized arraignment on the charges.

Additional charges are pending as police have received multiple complaints from citizens whose property was also reportedly damaged by spray paint.
