Foodchella 8 parking, traffic restrictions announced

SOMERSET — The Somerset Police Department will implement parking and traffic restrictions for the “Foodchella 8” event on Saturday, May 10, in the Slade’s Ferry District/Park area.

Unauthorized vehicles parked in posted areas will be tagged and towed if necessary.

All parking restrictions will be in effect from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Parking will be prohibited on both sides of Slade’s Ferry Boulevard and on both sides of Brayton Avenue south of Slade’s Ferry Boulevard.

No parking will be allowed on the south side of Newhill Avenue.

Parking will also be restricted on the south side of Slade’s Ferry Avenue from Riverside Avenue to the north/south accessway to Slade’s Ferry Boulevard, with parking in marked spaces adjacent to Slade’s Ferry Park/Park ‘n Ride prohibited.

Traffic restrictions include no vehicular traffic on Slade’s Ferry Avenue from Riverside Avenue to the north/south access way to Slade’s Ferry Boulevard between 1 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Newhill Avenue will have no eastbound vehicular traffic (local traffic only), creating a one-way westbound from Riverside Avenue to Brayton Avenue.

Police officers will be deployed throughout the area to manage the event.

Motorists and pedestrians are asked to use caution and follow directions from police officers.
