WOODBURY — A head-on collision on U.S. Route 6 in Woodbury claimed the life of one driver and left another injured Tuesday afternoon, according to New York State Police.
The crash occurred at approximately 5:12 p.m. when a 2023 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck traveling eastbound crossed the double yellow line and struck a westbound 2016 Honda Civic CRX.
Samantha Lezin, the driver and sole occupant of the Honda, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Dodge Ram driver, identified as Noely Rafael Vargas, sustained multiple leg injuries and was transported to Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown by Kiryas Joel EMS.
A 2018 Jeep Wrangler traveling behind the Honda was also involved in the incident, but its occupants, driver Kiley Genevieve Metcalf and passenger Anthony A. Bolivar Sanchez, were uninjured.
Multiple agencies responded to assist, including Woodbury Police Department, Woodbury Fire Department, West Point Fire Department, Woodbury EMS, and Mobile Life Support Services.
The investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing.
