Drunk driver crashes into parked car, sends it into Mamaroneck home

MAMARONECK — Village of Mamaroneck Police arrested a driver on charges of driving while intoxicated after a crash that sent a parked car into a home Tuesday night.

Officers responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a motor vehicle accident near Halstead and Palmer Avenues at approximately 10:56 p.m. on May 20.

Upon arrival, police observed a vehicle partially buried in the first floor of a residence in the 100 block of Mt. Pleasant Avenue.

The vehicle’s engine was off and did not appear to have been in operation at the time officers arrived.

Police canvassed the area and located witnesses who reported that the accident had occurred elsewhere.

As officers continued their search, they located the primary crash scene and identified the driver of the vehicle.

According to police, the driver had been traveling eastbound on Palmer Avenue when they struck a parked unoccupied vehicle, causing it to crash into the residence.

Emergency Medical Services evaluated the driver, who refused further medical attention.

The driver was placed under arrest on charges of Driving While Intoxicated and Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, both unclassified misdemeanors.
