GROTON — A Norwich woman died Wednesday after her vehicle struck a utility pole on Fort Hill Road, police said.
Vanessa Pettengill, 45, was traveling eastbound in a 2006 Subaru Legacy Outback when the crash occurred at approximately 1:22 p.m. in front of 21 Fort Hill Road.
Officers responding to multiple 911 calls found Pettengill unconscious with serious injuries at the scene, which was located between Depot Road and South Road.
Pettengill, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was transported to L&M Hospital in New London where she was pronounced dead.
The victim resided at 23 Pearl Street #2 in Norwich, according to police.
The Groton Police Department is continuing to investigate the crash and asks anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them at 860-441-6712.
