BOSTON — Officers from the Boston Police Department arrested a Waltham man on drug trafficking charges following a traffic stop in Dorchester early Wednesday morning.
At about 2:26 a.m., officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) were patrolling near Blue Hill Avenue and Columbia Road when they observed a vehicle traveling at an excessive speed.
After running the vehicle’s registration, officers discovered the owner had an outstanding warrant.
Police initiated a traffic stop and identified the front seat passenger as the vehicle’s owner, Samuel Milton, 34, of Waltham.
Officers asked Milton to exit the vehicle and placed him in handcuffs.
During an inventory search of the vehicle before towing, police recovered a plastic bag containing four separate plastic bags of what was later determined to be 22 grams of cocaine.
Milton was arrested and faces charges including trafficking of cocaine 18 grams or more but less than 36 grams, possession with intent to distribute Class B, and possession of Class B.
The suspect was also wanted on an outstanding warrant from Dorchester District Court for two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
Milton is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
