CORTLAND — Three Cortland men were arrested between April 28-30 in connection with a vehicle theft that occurred on Church Street.
Allestir L. Forest, 37, Christian B. Olmstead, 45, and Daryl Brandon Eaton, 32, were identified through video surveillance footage, according to the Cortland Police Department.
Police say the theft occurred at 8:50 a.m. on April 27 when the suspects used a previously stolen vehicle key to unlock a car parked at the corner of Church Street and Central Avenue.
Forest allegedly used the key to access the vehicle before all three men entered it, with Forest driving them to Syracuse.
The suspects later returned to Cortland in the stolen vehicle and abandoned it on Kellogg Road, where police eventually recovered it.
Forest faces charges of grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property, both D felonies.
Eaton and Olmstead were charged with criminal possession of stolen property.
Olmstead received an additional charge of criminal tampering while in custody at the police department.
Following arraignment in City Court, Forest was remanded to the Cortland County Jail, while Eaton and Olmstead were released.
