NEW BEDFORD — A 17-year-old juvenile with three active warrants was arrested Monday after a brief foot chase in the South End sector of the city, during which police discovered he was carrying a loaded firearm.
Detectives conducting surveillance targeting street-level narcotics sales and other criminal activity observed the juvenile at approximately 6:30 p.m. on May 5.
When officers attempted to approach the teen on Wing Street, he fled on foot but was quickly apprehended.
During the arrest, detectives found a Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum loaded with four rounds of ammunition in the juvenile’s possession.
The teen was transported to Brockton where a judge ordered him held without bail.
He faces charges of carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, and the warrant violations.
