Driver arrested for excessive speed near Marlboro school

MARLBORO — A Vernon woman was arrested for excessive speed after allegedly driving 73 mph in a 40 mph zone near Marlboro Elementary School.

Ashley N. Thayer, 20, was stopped by the Windham County Sheriff’s Office on May 2 at approximately 3:07 p.m. on VT Route 9.

Deputy David S. Gaillardetz made the arrest and issued Thayer a citation to appear in Windham Superior Court, Criminal Division.

Thayer was also issued a traffic ticket for the civil speeding violation.

She was released from the scene and is scheduled to appear in court on July 1.
