2 Orange County men charged in Port Jervis shooting

PORT JERVIS — Two Orange County men have been arrested following an investigation into a shooting on Barcelow Street, authorities announced Wednesday.

John J. Selja, 22, and Andrew Delrio, 26, were each charged with attempted murder in the second degree and robbery in the first degree, both class B felonies.

Port Jervis City Police allege the defendants confronted and robbed a male victim before firing multiple rounds from a firearm, striking him at approximately 9:28 p.m. on May 6 on Barcelow Street.

The victim was initially treated at Bon Secours Community Hospital before being transferred to Westchester Medical Center.

District Attorney David M. Hoovler and Port Jervis Police Chief William Worden said the investigation was conducted in collaboration with multiple agencies, including the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, Town of Deerpark Police Department, Orange County Drug Task Force, Town of Warwick Police Department and Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation led to the execution of a search warrant at a residence on Penaluna Road in the Town of Warwick.

Both defendants were arraigned in Port Jervis City Court and remanded to Orange County Jail on $500,000 cash bail or $1.5 million bond.
