South Windsor man arrested for grocery theft at local Stop & Shop

SOUTH WINDSOR — South Windsor Police Department arrested Steven A. McDonald, 56, of East Hartford on Monday at 10 a.m. on an active arrest warrant stemming from a June 2024 larceny.

McDonald was identified as the suspect who allegedly stole $427.81 worth of groceries from Stop & Shop on Ellington Road.

McDonald was processed and presented at Manchester Superior Court on Monday, as he was already in state custody on charges from other jurisdictions.

In a separate case, police also arrested Truvaughn T. Cantrell, 50, of New Haven at 10:05 a.m. Monday on an active arrest warrant.

Cantrell’s charges include conspiracy to commit larceny in the 6th degree and operating under suspension, stemming from a June 2024 incident at Target on Buckland Hills Drive.

Authorities identified Cantrell as a suspect who allegedly stole $370.99 worth of merchandise along with a second unidentified individual.

Cantrell was also processed and presented at Manchester Superior Court on Monday while already in state custody on charges from other jurisdictions.
