Groton man arrested for harassment in Marathon

MARATHON — A Groton man was arrested Thursday night after allegedly threatening physical harm to a person in the Village of Marathon.

Nikolay N. Karandeyev, 44, of Clark Street Ext. in the Town of Groton, was charged with second-degree aggravated harassment, a misdemeanor.

Officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic complaint in the Village of Marathon at approximately 10:56 p.m. on May 1.

Investigators determined that Karandeyev had used electronic communication to threaten physical harm to a person at the location.

Karandeyev was located and arrested at 11:26 p.m., then transported to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office for processing.

He was arraigned through the Centralized Arraignment Process at 10:35 a.m. on May 2 and released on his own recognizance.

Karandeyev is scheduled to appear in Town of Marathon Court on May 8 at 6:30 p.m.
