Dorchester man identified as victim in Blue Hill Avenue shooting

BOSTON — Police have identified 35-year-old Shakar Caterson of Dorchester as the victim in a fatal shooting that occurred late Saturday night in the Dorchester neighborhood.

Officers from District B-2 responded to reports of a shooting near the intersection of Blue Hill Avenue and Georgia Street at approximately 11:00 p.m. on May 3.

Upon arrival, officers found Caterson suffering from a gunshot wound.

Boston Emergency Medical Services transported him to Boston Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The Boston Police Department’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the BPD Homicide Unit at 617-343-4470.
