WATERVLIET — A 23-year-old Waterford man has been arrested in connection with a vehicle vandalism incident that occurred at Highland Club Apartments last fall, Watervliet Police announced.
Justin Santiago was charged with Criminal Mischief in the 3rd Degree, a Class E Felony, following his arrest on April 24.
The investigation began on October 20, 2024, when Watervliet Police responded to reports of a vandalized vehicle at the apartment complex.
Upon arrival, officers discovered multiple vehicles with shattered windows and observed blood on the glass.
Blood samples collected at the scene were submitted for analysis and subsequently matched to Santiago through law enforcement databases.
Despite multiple attempts to locate Santiago at his last known addresses, initial apprehension efforts were unsuccessful, leading to the issuance of an arrest warrant.
Santiago was eventually detained by another agency in an unrelated incident on April 24 and turned over to Watervliet Police.
Following processing, Santiago was released with an appearance ticket to return to Watervliet City Court at a later date.
