BOSTON — A 15-year-old male was arrested on multiple firearm charges early Friday after police responded to reports of masked individuals pulling on apartment doors in Mattapan.
Officers from District B-3 responded to the vicinity of 466 River Street at about 12:49 a.m. on May 2.
Upon arrival, officers observed the suspects exiting the rear of the apartment building.
When ordered to stop, one suspect clutched his left arm to his body and fled the scene.
A foot pursuit followed, ending when the juvenile was apprehended while attempting to scale a fence overlooking a 20-foot drop.
During the struggle, officers safely restrained the suspect, preventing what could have been a serious fall.
While being detained, the suspect removed an object from his waistband and threw it away.
The discarded item was later recovered and identified as a Smith & Wesson SD9 VE with a laser sight.
The firearm was loaded with one round in the chamber and seven rounds in a magazine that has a total capacity of sixteen.
The juvenile was arrested and faces multiple charges including carrying a firearm without a license, possessing a large capacity firearm, possession of ammunition without an FID card, and resisting arrest.
He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
