PULTENEY — A 25-year-old Pulteney woman was arrested after allegedly stabbing a person with a knife in what authorities are calling an attempted murder.

Annika M. Szathmary of Cross Street was charged with attempted murder in the second degree, a class B felony, according to Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard.

The arrest followed a 911 call reporting a stabbing in the Town of Pulteney on May 3.

Investigators allege Szathmary stabbed the victim with a knife, intending to kill them and causing serious physical injury.

The victim, identified only as male, was initially transported to a local medical facility before being transferred to a trauma center, where he has remained since the incident.

Szathmary was arraigned in the Centralized Arraignment Court and is being held without bail.

The Sheriff’s Office Evidence Recovery Team and Criminal Investigations Unit executed three search warrants and recovered the alleged weapon used in the stabbing.
