BOSTON — A 74-year-old South Boston man faces multiple firearm charges after police discovered a loaded handgun while issuing a citation for public drinking on Sunday.
Officers from the District C-6 Community Interaction Team were conducting a “walk-and-talk” assignment in the Preble Circle area around 11 a.m. when they observed two men with open containers of alcohol outside 9 McDonough Way.
While issuing city ordinance violations for public drinking, officers discovered a Taurus G3 9mm handgun in Clinton Satterfield’s waistband, according to police.
The recovered firearm had one round in the chamber but no magazine.
Officers also found a small black zippered case containing two additional rounds of 9mm ammunition during a search of Satterfield.
Satterfield was taken into custody and is expected to be arraigned in South Boston District Court on charges including firearm violation with one prior violent and/or drug offense, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and drinking alcoholic beverages in public.
