Multiple arrests made in Bethel drug raid

BETHEL — Vermont State Police and multiple law enforcement agencies executed a search warrant at a residence on Christian Hill Road early Monday morning, resulting in the arrest of 11 individuals on various charges including drug possession and outstanding warrants.

At about 6:15 a.m. Monday, May 5, officers raided a home at 2136 Christian Hill Road as part of an investigation into a stolen car complaint in Windsor County.

When several occupants refused to exit the residence when instructed, the VSP Tactical Services Unit deployed gas, flash-bang devices and a robot to apprehend the remaining individuals without incident.

No injuries were reported during the operation.

During the court-ordered search, investigators discovered cocaine and apprehended several people with outstanding arrest warrants.

Among those arrested was India R. Tweedie, 34, of Bethel, who faces multiple charges including violation of condition of release, violation of an abuse prevention order, retail theft, fentanyl trafficking, cocaine trafficking, and cruelty to animals.

She was held on $1,000 bail at Southern State Correctional Facility.

Jesse Durkee, 40, of Royalton, was arrested on a Vermont warrant for assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful trespass, and is being held on $5,000 bail.

Annette Ruotolo, 39, of Royalton, was arrested as a fugitive from justice on New Hampshire warrants for probation violations related to felony weapon and drug charges.

She is being held on $15,000 bail.

Thomas M. Brooks, 41, of Bethel, was arrested on a Vermont warrant for DUI-drug and held on $300 bail.

Six individuals were cited and released on cocaine possession charges: Brandin C. Durkee, 37, of Royalton; Ayla M. Dartt, 36, of Bethel; Jennell Risbara, 28, of Paris, Maine; Ethan Farrar, 29, of Paris, Maine; Marcus A. Hodges, 34, of East Hartford, Connecticut; and Anthony Moore, 33, of Hartford, Connecticut.

Gardner M. Moses, 56, of Tunbridge, was cited and released for violation of condition of release.

Several suspects are scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court-Windsor Unit on Tuesday, May 6, at 12:30 p.m., while others received court dates for June 17 at 8:30 a.m.

The operation involved multiple specialized units including the VSP Tactical Services Unit, Bomb Squad and Crisis Negotiation Unit, with assistance from the Windsor County Sheriff’s Department, U.S. Marshals Service, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Vermont National Guard, and White River Valley Ambulance on standby.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
