Wells police report 25 arrests, summonses in April

WELLS — Wells police arrested or issued summonses to 25 individuals during April, according to a monthly report released by the department.

The charges ranged from assault and theft to operating under the influence and suspended registrations.

On April 1 at 7:28 p.m., a 15-year-old Wells juvenile was arrested and charged with assault following a complaint and investigation.

The juvenile was released to their parents and is scheduled to appear at the York Judicial Center in Biddeford on June 18.

Later that same evening at 8:06 p.m., Sidi Cherif, 44, of Houston, Texas, was arrested and charged as a fugitive from justice after a motor vehicle stop.

Cherif was held without bail and scheduled to appear in court on April 2.

On April 9 at 7:35 p.m., Ava Horne, 21, of Wells, was arrested on multiple charges including domestic violence criminal threatening, refusing to submit to arrest, two counts of assault on an officer, and criminal mischief.

Horne was unable to post bail and was transported to York County Jail with a court date of May 14.

Maria Lacerra, 71, of Newtonville, Massachusetts, was arrested on April 10 at 3:11 p.m. and charged with operating under the influence following a motor vehicle complaint.

Lacerra posted bail and is scheduled to appear in court on July 16.

On April 26 at 8:20 p.m., Edward Coates, 65, of Wells, was arrested and charged with domestic violence assault and obstructing the report of a crime.

Coates posted bail and is scheduled to appear in court on May 28.

The month concluded with a report of assault on April 30 at 4:07 p.m., resulting in a 16-year-old juvenile being summonsed for aggravated assault and terrorizing.

The juvenile was released to their parents with a court date of July 9.
