Wappinger man charged with stalking child in Pleasant Valley

PLEASANT VALLEY — A Wappinger man has been arrested and charged with stalking an elementary school-aged child, according to the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office.

Kurt R. Geisler, 36, was taken into custody on April 30 after deputies investigated a suspicious circumstances complaint in the Town of Pleasant Valley.

The investigation began around 7 p.m. when authorities received reports that an adult male had approached a young child.

Geisler is accused of following the child and attempting to give them inappropriate gifts and notes.

He has been charged with second-degree stalking, a felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

After processing, Geisler was arraigned in the Town of Pleasant Valley Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Justice and Transition Center in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
