Police seek public’s help in Thompson bank robbery

THOMPSON — Connecticut State Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in an armed robbery at Hometown Bank on Thursday.

At approximately 12:38 p.m., personnel from Troop D – Danielson responded to a panic hold up alarm at the bank located at 835 Riverside Drive in Thompson.

Upon arrival, troopers determined an armed robbery had occurred, with the suspect fleeing before police arrived.

Multiple troopers and K9 teams searched the area for the suspect.

The suspect was described as a light-skinned male in his 30s, approximately 5’10” tall with an average build and medium brown eyes.

He was reportedly wearing a black face covering, a black Columbia zip-up style sweatshirt with lime green zipper, black fingerless gloves, black pants and black shoes.

According to police, the suspect displayed a black handgun and demanded money from a bank employee.

The suspect left the bank on foot with $3,250 and entered a smaller black SUV, possibly a Ford Edge with Massachusetts plates, that was parked at the Town Hall building.

The vehicle was last seen traveling north on Route 12 towards Massachusetts.

The Eastern District Major Crimes Squad has taken over the investigation.
