Suspect crashes into light post during chase, arrested with stolen gun in Stamford

STAMFORD — A foot chase ended in multiple charges for a suspect who collided with a light post while fleeing Stamford police officers with drugs and a stolen firearm.

The incident occurred when patrol officers conducting a foot patrol behind 26 Main Street observed a suspect handling a clear plastic bag containing what appeared to be narcotics.

When officers approached, the suspect fled toward Main Street but looked back during the chase and ran into a light post.

Officers detained the individual near the Purple Bridge and discovered a loaded pistol in the suspect’s waistband.

During the arrest, a clear plastic bag containing 34 knotted bags of suspected crack cocaine fell from the suspect’s hoodie pocket.

Police later confirmed the firearm had been reported stolen from Brookfield.

The suspect faces multiple charges including interfering with police, narcotics possession, possession with intent to sell, possession within 200 feet of public housing, criminal possession of a firearm, theft of a firearm, and violation of probation.

Bond was set at $250,000, with an additional $30,000 bond for the probation violation.
