Somerville police respond to multiple business incidents, shots fired

SOMERVILLE — Somerville police responded to several incidents at local businesses last week, including two attempted break-ins, assaults, and a shots fired incident.

On April 24 at 7:27 a.m., officers were called to a business on Medford Street for a reported vandalism.

Police found a damaged window with a cinder block nearby.

Later that same day at 12:33 p.m., officers responded to another business on Broadway where the owner reported a male had thrown a stone at a window in an apparent break-in attempt.

On April 22 at 6:07 p.m., police responded to a business on McGrath Highway after a victim reported being punched in the face when attempting to stop a shoplifter.

A more serious incident occurred on April 27 at 12:27 a.m., when officers responded to multiple calls about a shooting at a Broadway business.

An employee told police someone had fired a gun into the air.

Officers recovered one 9mm shell casing, and no injuries were reported.

On April 29 at 11:04 a.m., police responded to another Broadway business where a female customer reportedly became upset about her food order and threw a vase at an employee.

Police also reported additional crimes in the area including one package theft, nine car break-ins, two bicycle thefts, and one motor vehicle vandalism.
