Schenectady police seize drugs, weapons in separate raids

SCHENECTADY — Police seized multiple handguns and narcotics during two separate search warrant operations this week, resulting in felony charges against two residents.

The Schenectady Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit, working with the Special Operations Squad, executed the first warrant at 841 Stanley Street on Wednesday, April 30.

Officers discovered large quantities of crack cocaine, fentanyl and a handgun at the residence, according to police.

David D. Brown, 55, of Schenectady, was arrested and charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.

In a separate operation on Friday, May 2, police executed a search warrant at 329 Paige Street.

The raid yielded a large quantity of cocaine and two handguns, police said.

Karina Cotto, 29, of Schenectady, was arrested and faces charges including two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.
