RUMFORD — Officers from multiple law enforcement agencies executed a search warrant at a Roxbury property Wednesday, seizing firearms and a silencer from a man already in custody on drug charges.
The search at 419 Roxbury Notch Road took place at approximately 7:08 a.m. on April 30 as part of an ongoing investigation into Alexander Taylor Kubesh, 33, according to Rumford Police Chief Tony Milligan.
Officers seized an AR-10 rifle, a .50-caliber muzzleloader, a firearm suppressor (silencer) and assorted ammunition during the search.
Kubesh was already incarcerated at the Oxford County Jail following his April 3 arrest, which stemmed from a search of his Pine Street residence in Rumford.
That earlier search resulted in multiple felony charges, including possession of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and crack cocaine, along with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Although no firearms were found during the April search, police received credible information that Kubesh was concealing firearms at a secondary location in Roxbury, prompting Wednesday’s search warrant.
Authorities say Kubesh is a multi-state offender with prior Maine convictions for disorderly conduct, violating conditions of release, felony drug trafficking, and probation violation.
As a convicted felon, Kubesh is legally prohibited from possessing firearms.
Rumford Police have filed three new felony charges of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person against Kubesh, each carrying a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine if convicted.
Kubesh is expected to be arraigned on the new charges in court on Friday.
