SCHUYLER — Members of the New York State Police Troop D Violent Gang and Narcotics Enforcement Team executed a search warrant at a residence in Schuyler, resulting in two arrests and the seizure of crack cocaine.
The raid took place at 3647 State Route 5 in the Town of Schuyler, Herkimer County, at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 29.
Authorities seized over 12 grams of crack cocaine, more than $1,900 in U.S. currency, drug packaging materials and digital scales during the operation.
Shawn R. Adams, 49, of New York Mills, and Jelmel Drummond, 30, of Frankfort, were taken into custody.
Both men were charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree with Intent to Sell, a Class B Felony, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4th Degree for possession of 1/8 ounce or more, a Class C Felony.
Following arraignment in Herkimer County Centralized Arraignment Court, Adams was remanded to the Herkimer County Correctional Facility without bail.
Drummond was remanded on $20,000 cash bail or $75,000 bond.
The operation involved multiple units including the NYSP Special Investigations Unit, NYSP Counter Terrorism Intelligence Unit, NYSP K9 Unit, and uniformed troopers.
The Town of Frankfort Police Department assisted the New York State Police in the investigation.
