NEW HARTFORD — A 77-year-old local man was arrested on felony charges after police discovered numerous sexual images and videos of children on his computer device.
Martin J. Seemann Jr. of New Hartford was charged with possessing a sexual performance by a child, a class E felony, on Wednesday, April 30.
The investigation began in December 2024 when a technician at a local business reported finding suspicious files while repairing a computer device.
The technician alerted the New Hartford Police Department after discovering numerous images that appeared to show children engaged in sexual acts.
A police investigator secured the device and located the suspect as part of the investigation.
Following a forensic examination of the computer device, investigators determined Seemann unlawfully possessed sexual images and videos of children under 16 years of age.
Police suspect the images were obtained from internet sources.
Seemann was processed at the New Hartford Police Department and issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of New Hartford Court later this month.
The Oneida County Child Advocacy Center assisted in the investigation.
