HUDSON FALLS — One business was charged with selling alcohol to minors during a compliance check of 20 establishments in Washington County, New York State Police announced Thursday.

Family Dollar at 424 Lower Main St. in Hudson Falls was found not in compliance with New York Beverage Control Law Section 65, which prohibits the sale of alcohol to persons under the age of 21.

An employee at the store was charged with Unlawfully Dealing with a Child in the First degree, a class “A” misdemeanor.

The compliance check involved a trooper in plainclothes and one or more underage operatives who were not permitted to lie about their age or provide a false date of birth.

Nineteen other businesses successfully passed the compliance check, including several Stewart’s Shops, Cumberland Farms, Dollar General, and grocery stores in Argyle, Fort Edward, Hudson Falls, and Greenwich.

State Police recognized the compliant businesses for their adherence to the law regarding alcohol sales to minors.
