WINDSOR LOCKS — Two men were arrested Tuesday after allegedly scamming an elderly resident in a driveway sealing scheme, according to Windsor Locks police.
The incident began at 28 Alicia Terrace around 12:49 p.m. when an elderly resident reported that a contractor had solicited him to seal his driveway for $500.
Police said the resident agreed and provided a personal check, but after completing only half the work, the contractor demanded approximately $600 more to finish the job.
When the resident stated he couldn’t pay the additional amount, the contractors left the property, at which point the victim contacted authorities.
Officers canvassing the area located the suspects at 44 Garry Road, where they had allegedly attempted to scam another resident, though no money was exchanged at that location.
Mitch L. Delmaro, 26, of Islip, NY, and Paul C. Delmaro, 28, of East Northport, NY, were taken into custody.
Both men face multiple charges including second-degree larceny, which reflects the victim’s elderly status, and operating as home improvement contractors without licenses.
For the Garry Road incident, the suspects were additionally charged with criminal attempt of larceny.
Bond for each suspect was set at $50,000, and they remain in Windsor Locks Police Department custody.
