Two arrests on various charges by Rhode Island troopers

LINCOLN — Rhode Island State Police arrested a Johnston woman on embezzlement and forgery charges following an investigation by troopers from the Lincoln Woods Barracks.

Thea Sip, 42, of 28 Dante Avenue, was arrested at 10:45 a.m. on an affidavit and arrest warrant for embezzlement over $100 and forgery and counterfeiting in general.

Sip was transported to the State Police Scituate Barracks for processing and then to Sixth District Court for arraignment.

In a separate incident, troopers arrested Mariah Nugent, 23, of Seekonk, Massachusetts, at 2:31 a.m. following a motor vehicle stop on Pleasant Valley Parkway in Providence.

Nugent was charged with driving under the influence of liquor with a blood alcohol content of .08-.10 (Phase I: 0.092% and Phase II: 0.078%) – first offense, reckless driving, and possession of weapons other than firearms prohibited.

She was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks, arraigned by a Justice of the Peace, and released to the custody of a responsible adult.
