Two arrested in separate incidents on Rhode Island highways

CUMBERLAND — Rhode Island State Police arrested a Boston woman Tuesday afternoon on drug possession and reckless driving charges following a traffic stop on Route 295 in Cumberland.

Mariah Edwards-Blue, 33, of Boston, was charged with possession of a controlled substance (crack cocaine) and reckless driving – first offense after being stopped at 2:24 p.m.

Edwards-Blue was transported to State Police Headquarters where she was processed, arraigned by a Justice of the Peace, and released.

In a separate incident Tuesday night, troopers arrested James R. Anderson, 40, of Johnston, for driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs (.10-.15) first offense.

Anderson was stopped on Route 6 in Johnston at 10:40 p.m. and registered a blood alcohol content of .132 in phase one testing and .134 in phase two testing.

He was transported to State Police Headquarters, processed, and held overnight pending morning arraignment at Third District Court, where he will be presented as a bail violator.
