COLCHESTER — A New York woman faces multiple charges including a felony after police discovered cocaine during a traffic stop in Colchester on April 6.
Haley Macrabie of Walton was arrested after an officer observed her vehicle traveling on County Highway 7 with an expired registration from another vehicle.
During the stop, the officer suspected Macrabie was impaired by marijuana, according to a press release from the Colchester Police Department.
Macrabie performed standardized field sobriety tests, and a drug recognition expert from the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office conducted additional testing that determined she was impaired.
A search of the vehicle revealed baggies containing cocaine and drug paraphernalia, police said.
Macrabie was charged with tampering with evidence, a Class E felony, and two counts of criminal use of drug paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor.
She also faces an unclassified misdemeanor charge of operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs.
Additional traffic tickets were issued for an unregistered motor vehicle, plate violation, uninspected motor vehicle, operating without insurance, and license restriction violation.
Macrabie was transported to the Delaware County Correctional Facility to await central arraignment and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Colchester Court at a later date.
