SHELBURNE — A missing 87-year-old Shelburne man was found dead in Mountain View, New York, after his vehicle was discovered stuck on a camp road, police said Thursday.
Ronald Van Mynen, who had been missing since April 1, was found by a contractor hired to open a seasonal camp in Mountain View, according to the Shelburne Police Department.
The contractor discovered Van Mynen’s vehicle stuck on the camp road and then found his body a short distance away.
New York State Police from the Malone Office notified Shelburne police on April 30 that they had recovered both the vehicle and body related to the missing person case.
Through coordinated efforts between the two police departments, the deceased male was identified as Van Mynen.
The investigation in New York is ongoing, but authorities said there does not appear to be anything criminally suspicious about the death at this time.
