Hartland man arrested on warrant during traffic stop

HARTLAND — A Hartland man was arrested Tuesday after state police discovered he had an active warrant during a routine traffic stop.

Matthew E. Thomas, 40, was taken into custody at approximately 5:25 p.m. on U.S. Route 5 in Hartland.

Troopers from the Vermont State Police Royalton Barracks initially stopped Thomas for a traffic offense.

During the stop, troopers identified Thomas and discovered he had an active in-state warrant for his arrest.

The warrant included $100 bail.

Thomas was arrested without incident and transported to Southern State Correctional Facility.

He is scheduled to appear in Orange County Superior Court on April 30 at 12:30 p.m. and Windsor County Superior Court on July 8 at 8:30 a.m.
