Drone operation leads to drug, weapons charges in Southbury

SOUTHBURY — Two men were arrested after police observed a drone flying near Interstate 84 and discovered drugs and a firearm during the subsequent investigation, authorities said.

Southbury police officers were patrolling Main Street North near the I-84 Exit 15 ramps on April 23 at approximately 8:15 p.m. when they spotted a drone in flight.

Officers located two men in the Exit 15 commuter lot, one operating the drone with a remote control.

The men, identified as Karl Crozier, 42, and Michael Reho, 36, were found with a 2009 black Lincoln SUV, according to police.

During the investigation, officers discovered Reho was in possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police said Crozier was found with several pieces of drug paraphernalia, a large sum of money, and a firearm, despite being a convicted felon.

Crozier was transported to the Southbury Police Department and charged with possession with intent to sell/dispense narcotics, criminal possession of a firearm, illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, and use of drug paraphernalia.

He was released after posting a $75,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear at Waterbury Superior Court on May 7 at 9 a.m.

Reho was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, issued a misdemeanor summons, and released on a $10,000 non-surety bond.

He is scheduled to appear at Waterbury Superior Court on May 1 at 9 a.m.
