WATERVLIET — A 36-year-old Albany man was arrested Thursday after allegedly brandishing a firearm in Cohoes and later being stopped by police in Watervliet.
Tyler E. Amos was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, a class C felony, and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree with a previous conviction, a class D felony.
Watervliet police officers were notified by Cohoes Police detectives at approximately 1 p.m. on April 24 about a menacing incident that had occurred in Cohoes.
Police received information that a male subject operating an e-bike had entered Watervliet after allegedly displaying a firearm during the incident in Cohoes.
Officers observed a male matching the description in the area of 19th Street and 3rd Avenue, violating multiple New York State vehicle and traffic laws.
Watervliet police stopped the subject, who was identified as Amos.
Cohoes Police detectives arrived at the scene, and during a joint investigation, officers discovered a loaded, illegally possessed .22 caliber semi-automatic handgun.
In addition to the weapons charges, Amos faces several vehicle and traffic law violations.
Following his arraignment in Watervliet City Court, Amos was remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility.
