Sidney man arrested after motorcycle chase through three towns

NORTH NORWICH — A Sidney man faces multiple charges after allegedly fleeing from Chenango County Sheriff’s deputies on a motorcycle that eventually broke down during the pursuit.

Michael J. Bush, 24, was arrested April 23 after deputies observed a motorcycle passing vehicles in a no-passing zone and failing to stop at a stop sign.

Deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop with emergency lights and sirens, but Bush allegedly failed to comply.

The pursuit continued through three townships before the motorcycle malfunctioned and came to a stop in the Town of Sherburne.

While taking Bush into custody, deputies discovered he was in possession of methamphetamine, according to the sheriff’s office.

Bush was charged with unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle in the third degree, reckless endangerment in the second degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, resisting arrest, obstruction of governmental administration in the second degree, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree, and reckless driving.

He was released on appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear in the Town of North Norwich Court at a later date.
