ROCKLAND — Rockland police arrested an 18-year-old man and charged one juvenile following a series of vehicle burglaries that occurred overnight Friday into Saturday.

Timothy Gleason of Cushing was arrested Monday and charged with felony theft, burglary of a motor vehicle and violation of conditions of release, according to the Rockland Police Department.

Several thousand dollars’ worth of camera equipment, a firearm and other miscellaneous items were stolen from multiple unlocked vehicles throughout Rockland.

Police said they identified suspects quickly after obtaining security footage from several residences during their investigation.

Officers recovered almost all the stolen property, including the firearm.

At the time of his arrest, Gleason was out on several sets of bail from prior charges and remains held at the Knox County Jail.

One juvenile was charged with theft, while two other juveniles will face formal criminal charges unless they successfully complete a diversion program.

Police are asking anyone with information or additional security footage to contact Officer Gab Duke at GDuke@RocklandMaine.Gov.

The Rockland Police Department reminded residents to lock their vehicles when unattended, particularly overnight, and to avoid leaving valuables, especially firearms, in vehicles.

Last year, Rockland had approximately 25 motor vehicle burglaries, all involving unlocked vehicles.
