Providence woman arrested on stalking, forgery charges in Pawtucket

PAWTUCKET — Rhode Island State Police arrested a Providence woman on multiple charges following a traffic stop in Pawtucket on Tuesday.

Troopers from the Lincoln Woods Barracks arrested Jovanna Nunez, 35, at 10:35 a.m. on School Street.

Nunez was wanted on a Superior Court Full Bench Warrant for stalking charges originating from the Cumberland Police Department.

She also faced an extraditable warrant for check forgery from the Rehoboth Police Department.

After processing at the Lincoln Woods barracks, Nunez was transferred to Superior Court to be presented as a Fugitive from Justice.

In a separate incident Tuesday, troopers arrested Steven Velasquez, 34, of Boston, Massachusetts, at 7:08 p.m.

Velasquez was taken into custody at Rhode Island Hospital from Seekonk Police Department on multiple firearms charges including alterations of identification marks, carrying without a license, possession of large capacity feeding devices, improper storage, and possession by a prohibited person.

He was also charged with a provision order violation.

Velasquez was arraigned as a Fugitive from Justice and released to the Rhode Island Sheriffs Department.

Later that evening at 9:33 p.m., troopers arrested Murphy Ramos Cartagena, 36, of Woonsocket, for larceny under $1,500.

The arrest resulted from a joint investigation between state troopers and Woonsocket Police.

Ramos Cartagena was held overnight at the Lincoln Woods Barracks pending morning arraignment in Third District Court, where he will be presented as a bail violator.
