MILFORD — A Milford police K-9 officer located a missing 8-year-old autistic child who had escaped from his home Monday afternoon.
The Milford Public Safety Communications Center received a 911 call at approximately 3:58 p.m. from a parent reporting her non-verbal, autistic son had escaped through a first-floor window and was nowhere to be found on the property.
As patrol units searched the area, Officer Brian Sanchioni and K-9 Titan began tracking the child.
Titan showed interest in a stream across from the caller’s residence and followed it approximately 600 feet before jumping into the water and proceeding underneath a small bridge.
The missing child was found clinging to a small tree on the bank of the pond.
Following his rescue, the child was reunited with his mother before being taken to Milford Regional Medical Center for a precautionary evaluation.
