HARTLAND — The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit Central continues to investigate the homicide of a 78-year-old woman in Hartland.
On Saturday, April 12, at approximately 6:30 p.m., the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from state police in response to a death at a residence on Canaan Road.
The deceased has been identified as Velma Withee of Hartland.
Withee’s body was transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, where an autopsy was performed on Monday, April 14.
The medical examiner ruled the manner of death as homicide.
Authorities state there is no known threat to the public.
The circumstances surrounding the death remain under investigation.
