Cavendish man charged with arson in barn fire

CAVENDISH — A 20-year-old Cavendish man faces first-degree arson charges after allegedly setting fire to a barn earlier this month.

Zerrick Ausikaitis was taken into custody on April 28 following an investigation by the Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit.

The fire occurred at 3 a.m. on April 19 at a barn located at 395 Chambers Road, owned by 67-year-old Gary Muehlemann of Cavendish.

Investigators determined Ausikaitis intentionally started the fire, causing significant damage to the structure.

After processing at the Westminster State Police Barracks, Ausikaitis was issued a citation to appear in Windsor County Superior Court-Criminal Division on June 24 at 8:30 a.m.
