RIVERSIDE — A Painted Post man was arrested after allegedly striking another person in the head with a wrench, according to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office.
John P. Southard Jr., 31, was charged with second-degree assault, a class D felony, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon following the April 24 incident in the Village of Riverside.
Sheriff Jim Allard reported that deputies responded to a reported assault and determined Southard had used the wrench as a dangerous instrument, causing injury to the victim.
The victim was transported to a local medical facility for treatment.
Southard, a resident of Fenderson Street Extension in Painted Post, was arraigned in the Centralized Arraignment Court and subsequently released.
