FALL RIVER — Police arrested two men in separate drug-related incidents on April 26, according to the Fall River Police Department.
Andre Rego, 34, was arrested following a foot pursuit after he allegedly fled from officers who attempted to stop his vehicle.
Detectives from the department’s CAST (Community Action Support Team) unit were conducting surveillance at a known drug location when they observed suspicious activity involving Rego, who was operating a vehicle with a suspended license.
After Rego fled in his vehicle, officers located him on Pebble Street where he exited the car and attempted to escape on foot before being apprehended.
A search of the vehicle yielded approximately 4.1 grams of fentanyl, police said.
Rego faces charges of possession of a Class A drug with intent to distribute, operating with a suspended license (third offense), resisting arrest, and failure to stop for police.
In a separate incident the same day, CAST detectives arrested Leonard Starcher Jr., 35, at a local gas station.
Starcher, who had an active arrest warrant, was found with approximately 52 grams of suspected cocaine concealed in his pants during a pat frisk, according to police.
He was charged with trafficking cocaine (more than 36 but less than 100 grams) and held on the outstanding warrant.
